My Vintage Wedding

I married my lovely husband in April 2008. Our wedding took place in my family church in East Hagbourne and the reception in the Aston Tirrold village hall in Oxfordshire. I bought my Melissa Sweet dress in San Francisco. We were on a road trip around California for the Summer and when I saw it I knew it was the one. Along with buying the dress I also had to buy a suit case to keep it in and the dress travelled around California with us in a convertible Mustang!!! This is me, the Mustang and the dress (in the back of the car!) in the Nevada desert....

The dress was much easier to choose than the hat, I finally decided on my design one week before the wedding and locked myself away in my studio for the week making it.

I designed a feathered smartie with a detachable bird cage veil, I dyed the feathers with Earl Grey tea to give it a vintage feel and used the same gold, cream silk on my hat as my dress was made of. It became my best seller the following season!
